Making

So, I bought myself some shiny new toys:

I love new paintbrushes almost as much as I love a blank canvas. And I needed new ones – most of mine are pretty beaten up and aren’t cooperating very well. When I realized I was resorting to only two brushes, I knew it was time to for some newbies.

I’ve got an idea in my head for a new short film (additions to The Daydream Series) that involves birds and animation. So, I’ve been playing around a bit with silhouettes and materials:

And, as often happens with me, one idea bleeds into another and those birds flew right into the painting I’ve been working on:

I haven’t decided yet if they’ll stay. Everything in my work needs to be there for a reason, so I’m pondering if there IS a reason. I’ll let you know the conclusion once I get to it. And, to give you an idea of scale, and the landscape in which I’m making these kinds of decisions, here’s a pic of most of the canvas:

It’s the size of my living room wall, to give you an idea. Lots of little choices to make. Lots of answers revealed along the way. I love that about painting; it truly is an adventure, a journey whose end I do not yet know.
